Hi,
if you have a partial instalation, does means you got two or more partition on your hard drive, to (re)install a system operation, you must need wich are the requirements to this, if you’re thinking to take out linux and return to windows system, it’s easier, if you got a original disk of windows it will to prepare the hole hard disk, if doesn’t work you need to get a tool to delete any partition of your hard drive, to get a full control over windows system, i recomment use "Hirent’s Boot CD" , it have tools to make some useful things with your hard drive as create or delete partition, remenber that a system operation must be in a primary partition…
good lock… if you need more help, remenber that over internet must be someone who could give it!!!

How do u get hardware working with linux?

Monday, January 31st, 2011

Mainly FC6 on a Dell Inspiron 6000 Laptop. Also I have Windows XP Pro on my C: partition, and Vista on my E: partition, Vista can go.

linux has become allot easier to use and to install. I highly reccomend using a "live CD" to try out the distro of linux you want or may want to use. you can try SLAX or ubuntu for starters. You insert your cd and reboot you PC. Make sure you can boot off the CD-Rom drive. You can now try llinux without installing it on your HD. See of all of your devices work and software. I am using ubuntu right now and I love it!

Linux HOWTO #1: How to install and use ndiswrapper

Sunday, January 30th, 2011

0 Linux HOWTO #1: How to install and use ndiswrapperLINUX HOWTO 1st installment (Errata: see below)

This is the first in a new series called Linux HOWTOS. Every week I will post a video explaining how to accomplish something using a GNU/Linux operating system. Please write requests for installments in the comments!

This installment deals with using ndiswrapper to use Windows wireless drivers in Linux. Hardware manufacturers often don’t release specifications of their products to the open source community, so programs like ndiswrapper become necessary.

If you have any questions, please ask in the comment field, and I or someone else will do our best to answer. Please avoid ‘RTFM’-style answers. They are not welcome. Also please post corrections if I mistakenly give some wrong information.

I hope this project will serve as a valuable resource for people wanting to make the switch from a proprietary operating system to Linux.

***Errata***
If you are using ndiswrapper but have a native kernel module for your wireless card installed, you need to add the line:
blacklist name_of_kernel_module
to you blacklist file (probably /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist ). Running “ndiswrapper -l” (without quotes) as root will give the name of the native linux module you need to blacklist. If the module is already loaded you need to run “rmmod name_of_module” (without quotes) before ndiswrapper will work.

How to get your windows aplications working on linux system?

Friday, January 28th, 2011

I want to run executable applications of windows platform to run in ubuntu Linux System.

There is Wine which is a windows compatability layer

Installing and Using Wine on Ubuntu

http://psychocats.net/ubuntu/wine

A list of Windows apps. that work using Wine can be found on the Wine Application Database (AppDB)

http://appdb.winehq.org/

Wine will not run all windows applications and it should be considered somewhat of a compromise rather than an absolute solution
